pictures to share

...almost Thanksgiving

hard to believe it is time for the big ol' turkey feast. Now that the kids are older and are no longer into Halloween costumes or trick or treat, I somehow missed the transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving. I find myself feeling urgent all of a sudden to get ready for this family get together. In addition to planning a feast, this year, there is also planning for Rachael's trip back home from college. I can not wait to see my big pumpkin. She'll be bringing home lots of artwork so that is very exciting too.

This year, for 2 years in a row now, we will again miss the deLeon-Klefbom family, and Frank and Faith; and for the first year, we will not have Mimi with us. On a happy note, Amy Joy will be joining us for the first time this year. So on Thanksgiving, we will start our day with a 5k Fredericksburg Turkey Trot; with Meghan (Rache's friend) joining us also. Lots of exciting new things. I am again thankful for all the family and friends that will be here. I cannot wait for all the wonderful chaos.

Cross your fingers, the well doesn't run dry!

Rose's homecoming 18Oct2008

This weekend

has been hectic. Homecoming for Rose on Sat and Lacrosse game for Aaron today.

Saturday was spent prettying up Rose I managed to sneak a pedi for myself while Rose got a manicure. She looked amazing. Aaron opted out of going to homecoming. Rose told me that she overheard Aaron tell Rache that he opted out as he did not want to offend any of the girls who wanted to go out with him. Pretty funny!

I've been busy trying to keep up with my facebook. Wow, did not realise how much it would really consume me. Keeping up to date with people is a lot of work.

People, if you are reading this and want to support me in my fundraising campaign to raise $ for Home for Our Troops, please go to my personal page. I really need your support. I have to raise $500.00 by end of this month and I'm only 1/3rd there. So please make a tax-deductible donation today.

I still have 6 miles to run before the day is over so have a fab Sunday everyone.

I crossed the finish line of the Scotiabank marathon in downtown Toronto in 4:21:57. This is a personal best for me. On the same day, my running partner also finished, though disappointingly a bit later than me, with a time of 5:10. Not the time that was planned nor hoped for. Joe was ready but bad luck hit him somewhere in mile 23 or so, twisted his ankle and had to walk-run to finish. It took him about an hour to finish from then on. But the true gentleman that he is, he was genuinely happy for me finishing better than our target time of 4:30.

Thanks to our "groupies" - Andrea and Jeanette - who were there at the finish to cheer us on, take photos, and help us as we struggled to walk.

Overall, the weekend was great . There was plenty of good food, good company and a lot of running - hard to beat that.

So what's next? ...Boston in April 2009!!!

Four days to go

and it's marathon time. I am feeling a bit anxious which I guess is quite normal. My friend who has signed up to run the 5k backed out today. She is feeling a bit overwhelmed having heard of news of her dad being hospitalised. I was looking forward to our first trip together but I guess the fun will just have to wait for another time.

the start of a weekend

I drove Rache's car to work (I've been since she left for NYC to save gas) and locked the car key in the trunk. It took some time for the Wackenhut guard (who was very nice) to unlock the car - about an hour. So that is how my weekend started.

For dinner, I ate at Checkers with the other half. It was a bit chilly to eat outside so we ended up eating in the pickup. It reminded me of an old movie where couples dine in their cars while they watch a film in the parking lot. Our scene was that minus the movie part.

Headed to Borders next. Almost bought a book but didn't - I must finish Buddha first before I get another book.

Received a txt from Rose to check out the moon tonight. At first I could not find it and then I did, it was yellow and shaped very odd. I tried to take a picture but it turned out bad. I'll make sure to remember it.

...next weekend is the marathon...

Countdown to Scotiabank Marathon...

It's 12 days to the marathon. Wow, I am almost there. I feel ready, broke in my new pair of Brooks (it logs 17 miles today). Feeling pretty good so far.
